60D is 'Available now' as mentioned by Canon Singapore. From past experience, stocks will be trickling in and going to the advanced orders at the retail outlets. Online purchasing is not a norm here.

i remember reading somewhere/seeing somewhere that its better than the 50D

There is no way this is better then the 50D. Would be like saying the new 2011 Ford Festiva is better then a 2008 Porsche 911 2008. I guess it all in the way you look at things. The 60D is not an upgrade from the 50D its an update to the T2i. The 60 D should have been called T3I. I wish Canon would stop it with the way they name cameras.

does anyone know how good is the weather sealing on the 60D compared to 50D/7D?

You misunderstood his quote. He was responding to the quote on weather sealing. Though I agree it's not really an upgrade to the 50D. IMHO, it's a change in direction for the XXD line. Your analogy of a Festiva to a 911, is a little over the top.

I wish people would stop bleating about the 60D's name. Exactly how does it matter?

Make a big diff. Naming it the 60D would lead you to believe its an upgrade to the 50D. Why didnt they just call it the 5d mark III? The way cameras are named makes a big difference.

You don't buy the name, you buy the specs, or at least many folks do. Sure the name implies certain things that would either entice you to look or not, but in the end, if you are going to shell out some hard-earned cash, I would hope you would check out the specs and decide if it is worth it. It is more a marketing tool.

I bet you would think its weird if the new Rebel line was called the 5d mark III? The name of the product is a big deal. Companies spend lots of money coming up with names. Why canon has a problem with this who knows.
