i dont know how to read MTF charts, but what makes them so crazy?

There's more to it than this, but the idiots guide is simple,.
the more the lines are at the top of the chart, and the more they stay together, the better.

The new 400mm looks like one fat line right across the top,.
It's quite amazing!

I'm officially selling my body for sexual favors now. only serious offers will be accepted. I charge $99 an hour. I'm very open minded. boys, girls, whatever ^_^

You are going to be a worn out shell of a human being when you finally save up that $11000. That is only 111 hours of favors!

BEcause Canon warned them new lenses are coming out and they would lose boat loads of cash =P

On a side note, I made a post in the New Section about this prolly around the same time this was made.

I included MTF comparisons to the old lenses, so check it it!

Canon jacked the prices up nearly $3000... Does Nikon do this with their revised lenses, or is it a Canon thing?

just noticed too that Canon shaved off 3lbs off the weight from the original 400 f2.8IS. quite an achievement I think.

The 300 though, only a 0.5lb difference.

Not even the 200L f/2 can touch it.

it will be interesting to see how the used market responds to this. I'm guessing there will be little to no drop in used value, given economic conditions in the US and the general awesomeness of the current lens.

Agreed, old lenses rarely lose value, new ones just cost 25% more, lol.
