I am personally excited about the 70-300L since I would like a weather proof L quality lens thats small enough for vacation/travel to replace my 55-250 IS

The 8-15L also seems cool, since I don't have a fisheye yet

Now... I would have personally rather seen lenses other than the 300L-600L updated. Maybe the 100-400? I dunno, these lenses wil be amazing, no doubt, but the current ones are already deadly sharp... and deadly expensive.

I am guessing the new TC's are to go with the new primes (and maybe the new 70-200 f2.8 IS II that we all know is deadly sharp?)

Im very excited to see they updated lenses i couldnt afford in the first place. Like you said though...the 70-300 looks pretty nice! It will probably be the best in the market....with a $1000 price tag of coarse.

I'll get it.

Atleast its good to see canon brung it. Not just a couple of ok lenses...ALL L"S

not that I can afford it but what is the min focus distance for the 400L??

the article says 300L is 2m and x.18
the 400L says .17m and x.17

I don't know why but I don't think it will be able to focus down to 17cm :p

Added the MTF charts and WOW, those lenses are gonna be sharp enough to CUT! The fisheye is an interesting case, the zoom is much sharper than the prime! (Power of L!)

Now if I had to guess prices... (MY GUESSES, NOT WHAT CANON SAID, I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT CANON'S PRICES ARE)

300L - $6,000
400L - $10,000
500L - $8,500
600L - $11,500
70-300L - $1,000
8-15L - $1,400

I'm going to be excited for the 70-300, 8-15L, and the new tele's. The new primes are going to be waaaaaay out of my price range.

I think you're probaby close on these except for the 8-15 Fishy. I'm thinking street of $1000. At f/4 max aperture, it's more like the 17-40 than it is the 16-35. Plus, if they're smart, they'll try and hook folks with a "friendlier" price since it's a very unique "specialty" lens.

I would normally agree, but have you seen the MTF on that thing? It is super sharp! WAY sharper than any Canon ultra wide, just buy this sucker and de-fish it and forget all those UWA lenses!

Idea of prices:

http://www.usa.canon.com …il&docId=0901e024801e8289 (external link)

Retail projections:
8-15 fisheye: ~$1400.

70-300: ~$1500

300mm: ~$7000

400mm: ~$11,000

Extenders: ~$500 each

I'm sorta surprised by the retail of the 70-300L. I'd rather just get a 100-400L for $100-200 more. Though my bet is that the compactness of the 70-300 will be the selling point.
