Hi guys, I have this really cheapo $20 tripod I'm using but I'm scared one day the thing is going to snap in two... And I don't want that to happen with my camera on it.

I'm just looking for advice for a decent tripod, obviously above $20... But I'm looking to go as cheap as possible without getting absolute garbage basically.

Any recommendations? I've honestly never shopped for a tripod past "Go to amazon, sort by cheapest" haha

I'd want to use it indoors for the most part.

Stuff: 40D+BG-E2N, 430EX, 85mm f/1.8, EF-S 17-55 f/2.8, 70-200 F4L IS
I'm always looking for advice, please check out my Flickr. (external link)

Cheap to me wold be under $150 with a head

So i would say go with Tiltall tripod
can be found on eBay for $100-$125 - it has a fitted head that supports upto 15lb - one of th leg unscrews and becomes a mono-pod
ive had mine a while now and i love it to bits - it provides good camera support had 4 different adjustment methods

I was in the same place not too long and had a friend recommend an older model tripod to me that I've loved so far.

Mini review I did on it here: https://photography-on-the.net …/showthread.php?t=910863&

They pop up from time to time on Ebay pretty cheap ($10-$30) and usually come with 3 way pan-tilt heads but they are getting harder and harder to find.

I got a Giottos tripod with ball head for $199, it's nice and solid and the ball head is great.

If you're on a tight budget, but want something sturdy that will last, I suggest you look at the DX models from Slik. These are well made, sturdy tripods. The only real drawback is the weight. The 700DX has been around for ever and is a proven design that is very sturdy (but heavy). It can be found for under $100 for the legs and around $139 for the legs with a sturdy three-way head.

If that's too much weight, or too expensive for you, look at some of the lighter models in the DX series like the 300DX, 330DXor 340DX.

Check out Benro as well. I believe my Benro ran about 100 bucks, and I slapped their ballhead on as well and the whole thing came to about 150. Really nice, sturdy setup for the money.

Also some Manfrotto's for about $100-$150. Heavy, but that's the tradeoff for inexpensive. Will last a lifetime, however.

Check the line at B&H.

Buy USED...

Bogen 3001/3201 for hikers, Bogen 3021/3221 when minimum weight is not an essential feature. Both are well regarded tripods that everyone bought in the days before the Manfrotto 190 and 055 models replaced the 3001/3021 tripods (the 32xx merely indicates black rather than silver anodized)

The head in this ad I hesistate to recommend, but the tripod itself is a very nice price. Grab it QUICK!!!
