Just got this lens this week.
Enjoying it so far. I find the easiest way to shoot is to use left hand to support the lens rather than using the grip to support the camera and the lens.

These are from my 7D.

Boring subjects, I know, but this is what passes for "Autumn colors" in coastal South Carolina.

A few shots from a very dank and dark trip to the Barnes Wildlife and Wetlands Trust (only a few miles from the centre of London), 70-300 LIS on my 60D using Auto ISO, wide open. The first shot gives a clue to the conditions. (all images worked via LR4 beta)

Not perfect but we had had one come over that was so close we had to duck, really didn't want to be hit by this one.

Cool shots oldcanon despite the conditions.

Pinnacle - deer shot does the same here, very homely.

love those Chickadee shots Bobobird (looks like they may belong to what we call the Tit family in the UK, similar in size and colouration to a Coal Tit (http://www.rspb.org.uk …name/c/coaltit/index.aspx (external link) )

I like this effect. Kind of cool.

Thanks oldcanon - yes that would be a Tit in the UK.

AbPho - thanks. That is how the pic came out, just cropped it to look that way.

Here's my first attempt at a BIF. I think I was lucky as I was out for walk enjoying the sunshine and this heron just flew by and I only just managed to get a couple of shots of it before it was became to far away.

Any comments or advice will be greatly appreciated.

May I know how does it compare to the tamron 70-300 vc usd? I know that it is a $400 lens but I need to know the reason of paying extra $1k other than weather proofing.

I do need to shoot in low ligting at sometimes Eg concerts.. so IS or VC is important to me, i do pixel creep a bit.. cheers..

apreciate someone can advise me..
