Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM

Just got this lens this week.
Enjoying it so far. I find the easiest way to shoot is to use left hand to support the lens rather than using the grip to support the camera and the lens.

Boring subjects, I know, but this is what passes for "Autumn colors" in coastal South Carolina.

Pretty good I would say for autumn colours.

A few shots from a very dank and dark trip to the Barnes Wildlife and Wetlands Trust (only a few miles from the centre of London), 70-300 LIS on my 60D using Auto ISO, wide open. The first shot gives a clue to the conditions. (all images worked via LR4 beta)

Pinnacle - deer shot does the same here, very homely.

May look warm but it was FREEZING cold.

love those Chickadee shots Bobobird (looks like they may belong to what we call the Tit family in the UK, similar in size and colouration to a Coal Tit (http://www.rspb.org.uk …name/c/coaltit/​index.aspx )

A shot from a walk on our local saltmarsh, a little egret wading in a small lagoon left when the tide went out (60D + 70-300 LIS)

Here's my first attempt at a BIF. I think I was lucky as I was out for walk enjoying the sunshine and this heron just flew by and I only just managed to get a couple of shots of it before it was became to far away.

Any comments or advice will be greatly appreciated.

May I know how does it compare to the tamron 70-300 vc usd? I know that it is a $400 lens but I need to know the reason of paying extra $1k other than weather proofing.

I do need to shoot in low ligting at sometimes Eg concerts.. so IS or VC is important to me, i do pixel creep a bit.. cheers..

apreciate someone can advise me..
