Hi oldcanon, Ron

I noticed you have a 500d.. Very encouraging to me (I have 500d too).
Mind if you share the exif? Thanks.

-Pete

Pete I hope you got the exif info off my Flickr ok.

I had a bit of a play this morning as I came across that heron again you might find these interesting.

This is as slow as I could get and good job he doesn't move a lot and glad I didn't have a coffee before setting off. I am amazed how well the IS works the "force" is with the 70-300L for sure, I was leaning against something but also holding my dog on its lead.

One more from todays dog walk that seems to take 2 hours now. This is at 1/400 5.6 @300mm ISO 125 hand held

Hello Gang -
I watch this thread pretty much every day, grateful for those posting ~
Finally got out today for a few shots - got tired of the weather keeping me indoors, uninspired....

The below is nothing special - except to say that I am again pleased with the lens (and 60D) able to lock onto my subject in AI Servo even through tree branches. Original then slight crop. 1/1600, f/8, ISO 800, center AF

A couple of local songbirds for your entertainment, the first is a Dunnock (also known as a Hedge Sparrow) but unlike normal sparrows this one can sing beautifully and is a solitary little thing. The next is a Linnet which is a Spring / Summer visitor here

both of these are 100% crops

Like both, maybe the 2 gets an additional point for looking so cute.

The more I use the 70-300 LIS + 7D the more I find it can do, these two shots show the original frame + 100% crop from within it, of a Whitethroat in flight, shot using AI servo with all focus point active

The noise and slight colour change are where I processed if from RAW to jpg and then put some pp in to get more detail out (the full frame is simply resized and saved as a JPG with no processing)

I wish I hadn't seen this, it's awesome and my craving for a 7D just went through the roof.
