what a nice thing to say - thanks!

eventually when you photograph certain animals enough you learn behaviours and you anticipate or look for certain poses.

Thanks!

Wow Christina, you nailed the last one, it's a beauty. How are you finding the 7D having used it for a while?

Take the Plunge is superb. Well done.

It was my first time going to the event, it was very cool! I have more shots to go through, so I'll post some more sometime :) Thanks

Thank you!

I'm liking the 7D - keeping it ungripped so as to have a lighter camera option when I just want to grab a camera. I shot with the lens on both cameras for the dock diving throughout the day (half way through the day I filled up the card on my 7D, so had to switch to the 5D3) and noticed that I seem to have gotten more keepers on the dock diving jump shots with the 5D3. Might have just been a case of not having the 7D's AF system sensativity set to fast enough (still playing with that in the menu - the 5D3 gives you "cases" that can apply to different situations, but the 7D's is a bit more basic) - the 5D3 seemed to be more forgiving when a dog would jump higher than I expected, it stayed in focus as I quickly panned up whereas those shots with the 7D were out of focus.

I really like the extra reach with the 7D. This lens rocks on both cameras - both are very sharp, but the 5D3 renders finer details more naturally, but Im very happy with the 7D files (at the lower ISO's) - I try to stay under ISO 800 if I can help it with the 7D right now, until I really get a feel for how noisy the files get.

All in all I'm happy with my decision of the 7D rather than just getting a teleconverter - it is a lot more useful for me and what I shoot, it lets me have two lenses at all times and I don't have to worry about the AF system capabilities on either camera when shooting action. I'll admit, the 5D3's 6fps is plenty but the 8fps can be fun (hence why I filled up my card in the middle of the day....lol - I was having fun shooting the flying disc demonstration)

:D

God help me...I keep thinking the 7D's got too many options already! Definitely a sign to keep away from the 5d3 (not that my finances would let me consider it anyway!)

The Kenko 1.4 teleconverter arrived... I was surprised to find that it auto-focused pretty well on the 7D indoors.

It's been overcast every time I've tried to use it but my initial thought is that the autofocus reminded me a lot of my Tamron 70-300. That may be unfair on the Tamron but it's what came to mind initially. It seems to find focus lock fairly well, given reasonable contrast but it will be interesting to see how it goes with tracking.

I did a quick test comparison between the 300mm cropped and the 300mm with the 1.4 and there is visibly more detail (and less noise) with the 1.4. Having said that, my 70-300 has a micro focus adjustment of +4 whereas it would appear to be around -6 to -10 with the Kenko attached so if you don't have that feature it could be interesting...

Here's a few samples with the Kenko.

So I finally took delivery of this baby, and was lucky enough to have a k-pop dance event in my mall.

First real world use of the 7d, and the two together are great for moving subjects.

Extremely pleased with this lens.

I will post later some shots I uploaded on the iPad.
If you are browsing this thread wondering if you should pull the trigger, do it. It makes my old thamron look like a disposable!
