Very nearly did and then noticed something was just not right and flew off like a bee looking for better flowers.

loving the GSP pictures Dave .. uncanny as I also have 2 of them myself. One older (13 now) and one younger (3) as yours also seem to be :). I don't have many shots of them here with me at work, but here are some I have access to, again, taken with the 70-300 lens.
Cheers, Ori

Nice shots Ori -- I'll try to find time to upload some action shots of the GSPs taken with the 70-300L -- this lens is just perfect for outdoors action shots (and GSPs seem to be in motion all of the time . . .)

What a day, nice early start with the new 7D then my brother came round as he is back from Aus and it's been 18 months. Loads of photos mostly with the new 15-85.

I did not get Mr Heron with no 0001 sorry.

IMG-0001 is this

This is why I got the 70-300L and then the 7D but I still need practice

This lens rocks on a 7D. I was so taken back by the first shutter going off it sounds so goooood. I had never tried a 7D until today and burst is to die for, mmmm I like it so much.

you wait until you try tracking a falcon flying in front of a stand of trees in AI servo and it holds focus spot on the eye - magic!

Have more fun - you know you want to

some good shots there by the way, Poppies are my thing when it comes to flowers so they get my vote

At about 4-5m I would be truly disappointed if it did not show up as well as you have done in the pic. Just look at the faint ridging below the eye.

Great closeup. Others are nice too but I like this one best - colours, sharpness, composition, all...

dnauer - those are a pack of really happy dogs. Well captured too.

an example of fast focusing with a small bird, I spotted this female Greenfinch coming in to land and it really was a case of "point and shoot". AI servo mode with manual exposure and all focus points active.
The scond shot shows the stir she caused with the local male Greenfinches, its a shame that the female is out of focus (working at f5.6 has limitations ;) ) but its clear she is the centre of attention for the males

Thanks oldcanon, that clears it up very well.
Seems like a 7D is on the cards.
