Thanks for the comments...it's amazing what a bit of fill in flash will do!

I keep coming back to this one...it's a fantastic shot!

And I have been hunting this one around my neighborhood.... He was higher up than I would have liked, second shot is a heavy crop..

And Will, just for you, I tried this in both AI servo all points, which tracked well, and Zone, which was definitely following as it moved within the zone.

Cameras: 7D2, S100
Lenses: 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM, 18-135 STM, 24-70 f/4L IS USM, 50 f/1.4 USM,70-300L IS USM

I'd be interested to see how they go with some background to contend with. I'm guilty of not really properly trying out either of those with my 7D and I'm sure I've missed lots of shots because of it!

yeah, bingo - but then AI Servo will grab a background object if any focus type is 'there' long enough anyways...

Yep, this focusing thing's secondary role seems to be to make you feel like a complete idiot/failure at times. I got a lovely set the other day (all with the focus point on a bird's head) only to find that the camera decided the grass behind it was a much more interesting subject!

:lol: :rolleyes: :mad: yeah that happened to me most when I used panning mode II... its actually when you are SUPPOSED to use IS Panning Mode II for tracking birds - but it sucks...

only Mode I for me...
