Something a little different with this lens. Taken at f/2.8, MFD and using a 36mm extension tube, this is new growth at the beginning of February, something I wouldn't expect to see for a few weeks yet. Shows how screwed up the weather is:

Well…a bit bummed today! And yes…I know this is a photo forum but maybe someone will benefit from this tidbit. Picked up a Canon C100 Cinema Camera to do my video work on and take advantage of the lens collection I have. For grins I took it out to one of our airport photo spots with the 300mm f2.8 II and 500mm f4 II and the autofocus is disabled!! Every other AF lens I have works but apparently Canon must not think anyone would want to shoot aviation or wildlife videos! Stuck the 500mm back on my 1Dx and AF works both in still mode and for video (although not constant but it doesn't do that with any lens.)
Will be writing a note to Canon begging for a firmware update!

Oh…Cool shot Frank!

Did you read this? I don't know if it helps with the 300 & 500...

BTW, what happened to your friend Jay? He doesn't post here any more. Hope all is well.

I did know about the update and plan on sending the camera in as soon as it's available. Hope that fixes it!
Jay said he's taking a break from potN for a while. There's so many places we post stuff it gets out of hand. I've left a couple of forums for the same reason.

Was it a goal or a toe-tip save? Either way, nice shot!

Toe save. Great move and even better stop!

Thanks for the comments!

Well guys... I am pulling the trigger this weekend on this lens! I have been debating for weeks and I have decided that this should be in my collection :D

I am buying to new... Got a great price of $6400 shipped which is lower than I have seen for it ($6799 is the norm, I guess via CPW it was down to $6500 at one point?).

It should arrive next Wednesday I believe. I am looking forward to it! I plan to eventually add the 2x III (already have the 1.4x III) and curious if anybody with the Lowepro 400AW bag, if it will fit if I remove a few of the dividers? I think it will length wise, but diameter may be an issue. May have to ask for a new bag around my birthday/graduation :D

Pictures when it arrives... :)

Here's another option if the Lowepro doesn't work for you. I have the Tamrac 5793 that I use with my 300 II. It's long enough that my 300/1D4 combo fits even with the lens hood attached (normal position). Just something to think about.

Thanks for the suggestion! The only thing I don't like with those is how long they are... I know the point of them though is for long tele's... I am more-so looking for a bag just long enough to fit it, but deep enough to have the lens fit with the hood reversed and still close (don't need it to fit with hood on).

I will see how my 400AW works if I remove the dividers if it will still close... Most of the time I will use the 300, I probably will only have a 16-35 II or 24-70 II with it and not a whole bag. So we shall see if it fits :D

Also... I ordered it today! :D :D Hoping for a razor sharp copy to blow my socks off... Little worried after the soft copy I rented from CPS (Mark I)... *crosses fingers*. At worst, I will exchange it if it does not meet my expectations, so not a big deal I suppose! :p
