Great grab of the moon! Any chance you could share your settings of this shot?

A little better than a 70D, not as good as a 5D3 or 6D. I think that's what everyone pretty much expected. My 7D2 purchase was based on the rumored AutoFocus and Frames-Per-Second improvements over the 7D/70D. I'm very satisfied so far.

Amazing shots everyone!

I don't have the 300, but I do have the 70d, going to the 7dmkii for the raw buffer capacity and f8 focus. 300 is in my future though! Thanks for all of the inspirational photos!

Going to try out the new 100-400+1.4xiii @ F8 on 7dmkii first!

Here is a nice feature comparison: http://dancarrphotography.com …/15/canon-7d-mkii-vs-70d/ (external link)

My moon shot was at f/8, 1/800, ISO 400. It was taken handheld with IS on (mode 1).

I never thought of teasel in b&w, but it worked really well. The lilies are awesome. Fabulous light!

Thank you. The servo tracking of the 7D2 did a great job!

Im excited for you and your new "baby!" Very jealous! BUT, and I havent looked through the entire thread, I don't SEE a $6,000 difference between these photos and some that you could acquire with a $300-$500 lens. I've seen some pretty sharp photos from the 55-250 STM and similar lenses that don't look much different. Obviously I haven't had the privilege of using this lens, so maybe the value is more in the construction, quality of materials, and the ability to capture moments where other lenses may not be able to. Would be nice to see a side by side comparison vs some entry level lenses though.

Remember you are looking at resized JPEG's that won't show the differences... Look at some images near full resolution and the difference between a $300 lens and this one will be clear.

Agree with Steve ^^^ take the same photo with both and print them out to say. . . . . A0 just for the hell of it and see which one you keep.

I sold my first copy as I wasn't convinced of the quality vs price either, took me nearly a year to save enough for another one.

Had a 'flying' visit to Colchester Zoo today and they have a new area set up inside for the flock of Rainbow Lorikeets, stunning plumage and even inside they are bright and beautiful.
