Hey Mark,
Really not a fan of B&W but the cat shot is one of the exceptions - I really like the way the shot has been taken (height and position)

Apr 11, 2015 13:46 | #1099 Most of the time the AF with the 1Dx + 300mm + 2xTC is bang on target. In the shot below however it wasn't. So I got a nice shot of this tanker rounding the curve on the road outside RSPB Saltholme (N E England), instead of the two ducks in flight which you might just make out in the foreground. This was with my 300mm + 2xTC so 600mm and this is a 50% crop of that. So no, it wasn't what I was aiming at, but I'll forgive the camera on this occasion as the subjects were tiny in the frame hence the somewhat larger moving object behind them took the lock. If anyone reading is considering the 300mm f/2.8 lens, the detail recorded here (and especially in the large version if you click through to my Flickr page) may be of interest to you:

Plays nicely with the 1.4x EFIII - Check IMAGE LINK: https://flic.kr/p/sr1M4F Focus stop button activates spot focus on 1DM4 - check IMAGE LINK: https://flic.kr/p/soKANY Plays nicely with the 2x EFIII - checkIMAGE LINK: https://flic.kr/p/soKAQb IS works ... @ 1/80 sec with the 2x = 600mm - checkIMAGE LINK: https://flic.kr/p/soKAVb The last 300mm 2.8 I had was an AF-S Nikkor in the early 2000's (back in the days of film), and whilst I liked that lens I have to say this one is in a completely different league. PS I have to thank David Stallard and his earlier post in this thread for the idea of the check list. A coupla bodies and a few lenses
