I had the first version a year ago, but sold it because it was too heavy to hand hold for longer durations. The new 500 is so much lighter, and it balances a lot better. I think the old version was very front heavy. I agree about the 500 being front heavy. I found that the 600 II to be a lot better balanced even though it's the same weight as the 500, it actually feels a bit lighter because of how it's balanced. I heard somewhere that it's front heavy partly due to a very heavy front element. The front element in the new lenses are much lighter and also not that impact resistant as the first version.

So much easier to follow because of the lighter weight. Too bad it gets dark at 3pm this time of the year.
