Congrats Scrum & Jake
Agree pretty light weight in MHO very manageable handheld

Great shots, Bianchi! How do you like the 5DsR? That and the 500 II should be a dream combo with all those delicious pixels!

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

The lens is only like a pound and half lighter than the original on paper, but I have to tell you as I was opening the cardboard box and removing the case, I was concerned that they had shipped my an empty lens case! It feels so much lighter!

I had a similar reaction when I got the 600II. Although it's the same weight as my 500 v1, it felt lighter and well balanced.

Congrats.

On another note, I am glad sold my 500 v1 when I did. The price have dropped tremendously since I sold mine. This is a good time for those looking to jump into the Supertele world though.

I was surprised that this shot came out sharp as it was at 1/50 sec hand held. No question as to whether the IS works then!

Had a very good day , one of my first with this newest lens.

A family of Pipping Plovers had there brood killed off in May. Amazingly, the plucky parents got right to work and raised another brood of FOUR!
These just hatched this month. (very late for Plovers)

All 1D4, EF 500mm f/4L IS II with 1.4x MkII (yes 2) mounted.

Please forgive (or don't really, it's inexcusable at this stage) my inability to get my new (ish) workstation properly set up. It seems none of my PS actions are installed, I haven't calibrated the screens, and I am still struggling with RAW converters after all my favorites were discontinued and older versions won't support my current cameras.

Super shots, Jake! Had terrible luck today myself - my son and I were stalking a kingfisher but no dice. The little fella was not cooperating.
