I have had good shots at considerably slower shutter speeds. Two things - learning how to handle such a big lens takes a couple of outings, so give yourself time to get used to it. Also, make sure you MFA the lens. You've spent enough, now it's time to make sure you wring every bit of performance from it. Sam

I know from personal experience that the first time, it was decidedly uncomfortable to hold the lens up for any period of time, but after the first few trips out into the field, I have no problems any more.
