I was going to get one of those houses but didn't think birds actually nest in them. That is a bluebird nest box and yes bluebirds are quite dependent on nest boxes that are properly monitored. The non native house sparrow must be discouraged from nesting in your boxes; they will kill bluebirds and their young. House wrens can be a problem as well. Many species out compete bluebirds for natural nesting cavities. To help these beautiful birds many people set up nest boxes but you must take the time to monitor them properly. It is a wonderful experience and such a joy to have these beautiful birds call your place home. Make sure you do not feed cheap birdseed or any mix that contains millet or corn which will attract house sparrows. Do not put a nest box within a 100 feet or more of your feeders.

I didn't use any form of support for the lens throughout the walk, not did I find the need to do so. It was managable weight wise but a bit unwieldy. I had a great time with it!
