Heya everyone;

So my old junky Dell died last night and I figure its a good time to upgrade my moniter. *Duh* :P

I have been testing out a HP S2031 and like it much more than the old Dell LCD that I was using but I want a little more for photo editing and would like 1080p for that 5DII I have yet to buy.

I want to keep the price under $200 and with the current coupon code for HP I can get the HP 2310m for about $170 which is much cheaper than the $215 that SamsClub wants for them.

So my question is; Who has photo editing exp with this moniter and how well does it render correct colors? Are there better HD moniters out there for under $200 or very close to that number than this one?

Thanks everyone, I will pull the trigger tonight when I get home if everyone thinks as highly of it as the online reviews (Non photo related) that I have read do.

Wow, thats a really nice screen for the money and even has a much better service plan at 3 years instead of 1.

I read that entire review on Amazon.com that you listed and it was quite imformative, I learned quite a bit about that screen. The great thing too is that coupon that I have works on this one too. :D

The only thing that I didnt like about it was the 8ms Response rate as I am young and stupid and do play vidja games sometimes. :) though that is not a deciding factor and some say the 8ms Response rate on that screen doesnt matter too much for gaming.

As a Pro screen it has the one I listed beat hands down so its for sure at the top of my list now.

Does anyone else have anything to say about this screen or the first screen that I posted?

Thanks.

Whelp I decided on the 23" HP 2310m for the larger size and being a full $115 dollars cheaper than the 21.5" IPS as well as having a quicker response rate but the biggest issue really was what my wife would say yes to.

At this point an extra $115 wasnt worth the increase in picture as we are moving this fall/winter back to California and the extra money can be used in the move. I do however get a $1500 dollar relocation aid as my current employer is closing so that will at least allow me to purchase an IPS at that time.

Now as for the HP 2310m I did read many great reviews about it and the only bad thing I have heard about it thus far is how the sticker leaves glue on the face, not a prob at all.

The HP 2310m is said to be crisper/cleaner, more accurate in color and fuller in features than the current HP S2031 that I am using. That being the case, I do like this S2031 much more than the old Dell LCD that I was using.

I think I will be very pleased with the HP 2310m and will let everyone know how I like it.

Thanks again for your help Chas, I know what I will be looking for when I get back home.

Whelp the FedEx man dropped off my 3210m today and all I can say is "WOW"

Looking through my photos and others online is just awesomely impressive now.
The colors and clarity are top notch for a TN panel.
If an IPS is far greater than this screen then I don't know what the heck I have been missing but I will find out when I buy an IPS this Spring when I get those moving costs back. :)

The 2310m really makes my old dell 17" LCD look like pure rubbish; how did I ever edit photos before?

Though I know an IPS is a better choice for photo editors, those on a budget will really appreciate this monitor for its high quality and low price.

Well, mazeltov on the HP. Too bad you just missed the Dell U2310h coupon deal... It was $239 plus free shipping.

Ok, a little update.

Its been almost 6 months now and all I can say is DAMN this was a deal of a Monitor.
Quality VS price, the HP 2310m is a Rockstar!

Editing on this Monitor is much easiers than with the old dell, the picture is sharp and the colors are very accurate to what I see. My eyes dont become fatigued like they did with my old Dell.

I have the brightness turned down to 90 and have since I bought it, at 100 its just too bright for my work space. Many prefer around 50-60 but that was too dim for me.

The glare has been almost non existent only becoming and issue when opening the shades and letting the sun come in. This same anti glare screen repels dust very well and doesnt need cleaning as often as my old Dell.

For a TN panel, I give the HP 2310m a 10/10
The ONLY poor rating that I give this monitor is not vital at all as most of us have an external sound system, but the built in speakers are very poor, a 3/10 overall. HP should have saved money and not put the speakers into this Minitor.

Dont let the speakers make up your mind on the HP 10m line though, thats not what we care about in a Monitor. :)

I wont be selling this monitor for an IPS display any time soon.

I hope this thread helps some people save some cash over an IPS display as this really is an awesome display.
