Interesting use of the jelly fish, I would have liked a little more prominence to this and a little lower shooting angle. However, looks pretty good as is and is certainly a notch above the normal sunset view.

i like it a lot. Maybe a longer shutter speed would have made the water smoother and look better? What was the exif data? Good shot though.

Personally- would have used an ND filter (probably 10x) to get a longer shutter speed. I wouldn't have reduced the aperture since I like the DOF in this.

(i assume you meant 24mm)

Hey, not bad for your 2nd post. I'd try cropping out the sun and see how you like it. It's nothing but a big, overexposed ball up there, so I'd get rid of it. Next time, change your angle to exclude the sun, and get closer to the jellyfish.

Keep shooting.

I tendto agree about the sun.but the beach and the jellies are fabulous! Love the lighting on the jellyfish. You could almost do this as a pano crop.

Did you use a Grad ND? If not then maybe that would be a good choice to better expose the foreground. I like the foreground but it seems a bit underexposed to me.

I dig what the surf looks like with the sun on it.

I did not use any filters on it.

Flo - I am not sure what you mean with the crop. Could you show me please.

Thanks

Sure, an 8X10 crop...just seemed to me the jellies are the subject, not the sky? Also, cutting the sky keeps the photo itself from being "cut in half".

I was also thinking it would be nice to see more of the jellyfish. I think the image is just so-so.. But working more with the composition and incorporating the jelly fish would improve it. The thought crossed my mind that wouldn't this be an awesome photo if you could get down on the ground close to the jelly and have the clear jellyfish backlit from the sun. In my imagination it's almost like one of those water droplet pictures. Just an idea.
