Hey guys,

I am using the trial version of LR3 and it won't let me change the develop preset when I go to import photos. I change it in the quick develop to a preset of general-zeroed, and when I go to import it always imports as BW creative-Creamtone. I cannot get it to change so I am having to zero out the first shot once they are imported, then sync them all. I just want it to import as they were shot, but it is not letting me change and save that preset and do that. Very frustrating, Any suggestions?

Thanks

Are you saying that in your Import dialog box the BW preset is set to be applied?

So, in the dialog, what happens when you click the little arrow to open the Apply During Import panel? Does the Develop Setting menu show? Does it show the B&W preset as selected? Does a list pop up with all the presets? I'm at an old laptop with LR1 right now, but at the top of my list is "None" -- is "none" in your list? If so, what happens if you select it and import?

Here is what I am getting. I set the Quick develop preset to zeroed.

IMAGE: http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb207/no1photo/LR%20screens/LRscreen1.jpg

Then when I go to import it is showing the develop preset as "B&W creative- Creamtone".
IMAGE: http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb207/no1photo/LR%20screens/LRscreen2.jpg

When I drop down the import preset box it is set to none.

When I import they all come in with the "B&W creative- Creamtone"effect.
Don't know where I am going wrong...any suggestions?

Not there. Change it in the right side panel > Apply During Import.

You need to expand the Import Files dialog box and you'll see the option to "Apply During Import."

Click the downward pointing arrow in the lower left corner of the dialog box to expand it, then you'll see the "Apply During Import" box in the right column and set the "Develop Settings" to None.

Found it!, I don't have anything on the right (see photos above) but there is a small drop down arrow in the bottom left the say 0 photos/0 bytes. If you drop it down it gives the import preferences. Now why adobe could not label that as such is another mystery of the adobe universe.
Thanks for all the help guys, I can now move on to other life problems!

Interesting -- I'll have to check that out, maybe see if there is some real info in Help, or is that item "missing in action"??

I'm glad you figured it out!

It's pretty universal in Adobe applications actually: Dropdown arrow for more options..
