I know B&H is probably one of the best companies as far as customer service and returns. I have so far returned three lenses.(two primes recently that I had sitting in my case after i used them once for a concert..but never used them for two weeks after) I am wondering if there is a limit to how many items you can return in an amount of time, if someone had an idea of "renting" a lens because you pretty much just pay shipping. I kinda feel bad that I have to return both but then again..its better than them sitting in my case until may 9th(next concert i know of) I am not that crazy about renting lenses as I am afraid I would want to keep them, lol. But yea..was just wondering what yalls opinions on the topic of how many items you return and if there is a limit.

So you bought the lenses, used them and then returned them because you won't need them until May, when you will do this again?

Most lens rentals have an option to buy don't they?
Are you returning them as "defective" for a free ride?

I wish I had a local camera store less than three hours away so I could try each lens before I buy them. I had been wanting to use a prime lens for quite a while and i was really liking the 50 1.4 quite a bit, but I only used it a few times after the event I had originally needed it for. I did not intentional buy it to return it and I don't plan on buying two of nearly the same lens again.(I had to buy the 30 because two days before the concert i first got to see the arena it was in and it was too wide)

I never knew you seen a rental site that shows anything about buying the lens you rent. Any links to one?

No, I do not put defective, there is an option of "Change of mind"

This is the point I am trying to make. You bought it for a purpose, it served that purpose then you returned because you "changed your mind".

Sounds to me like you should be renting, instead of buying.

If you're so unsure of what you really want, you'd do well to make some
rental agreements. Rent the lenses, check them out for your own useage,
then make a decision. Don't put the decision on the respected retailers
to eat your costs of not being able to make up your own mind.

Yeah, they do keep track of excessive returns. And you're probably at their limit already.

I would have to agree with the concensus that you are taking advantage of a retailer's good customer service. At some point I would think they will flag you or charge you a restocking fee.
Try to understand that they cannot sell your returned lenses as new. It costs them money evey time you do this.

Just don't do this and buy some cheaper lenses instead and take pics which are your own all the way.

What you're doing ruins return policies for the rest of us.

I think the best option is to buy used on here, use for what you need and if you dont want to keep it, sell for about what you paid for it...basically borrowing for a short time. if they are good lenses, and you shop for good price, you should be able to get your price back later on. I dont think it is right to buy from a store and return the next week, that is as dishonest as buying an outfit to wear to a wedding then returning afterwards.

I am not the moral police or anything, I just think there is no dishonesty in buying used and selling later on vs. testing the limits of a stores return policy.

You're afraid to rent because you might want to keep the lenses, so you buy them instead so you can return them. Somehow, I'm missing the logic.

I don't think I'd ever retrun a lens unless there was a problem with it. I most certainly wouldn't misuse a retailer's resources to get "free" rental.

as a business owner, i hope that b&h tracks you down and charges you a restocking fee on everything. if it was defective or some other reason, all is well, but buying it to use once with the intent to return is abusing their good customer service.
