Camera: Canon 1D mark II,
Lens: 135mm f/2.0L
Aperture: f/2.0
Shutter speed: 1/800th of a second
ISO: 800.

Post process:
Aperture 3.0.3 ~ RAW file conversion
Nik Dfine 2.0 ~ chroma and luminance noise suppression
Nik Viveza2 ~ Selective changes in highlight and shadow areas

Gator Stealth: Thank you. :cool:

kmunroe: I am not sure. It had one leg on each side complete with talons and a huge beak with the hook that is typical of raptors. The large eyes are well placed for distance assessment and the bird has the look of a juvenile to me, if the plumage is anything to judge by. Maybe one of the more experienced bird photographers/naturali​sts will be able to say for certain. The bird is native to France, which is where I captured this image.

jgrussell: YEEEEEEP! indeed. I liked the fact that the bird has an expression that suggests it could have been sizing me up for a meal. I had no idea about what was going on in that particular bird brain but the animal looked about ready to challenge me.
