Not really, only the D700 and D3x don't have video now and they are soon to be replaced with models that surely will include it.

Granted, but software development, support, and some minor hardware design implementations translates into higher development costs overall. Some of this development cost can be reduced, and eventually realized in lower retail costs. And I know some software development engineers that would argue their development costs are higher than that of hardware.

But they've already designed it, and they've implemented it across their line. It would likely be MORE expensive for them to manufacture/package/in​ventory/ship/market 2 separate lines of the same camera just to offer both.

If progress means cheaper, then what's the problem?

All Canon needs to do is to bring back 5DC as entry level, no video, no LV, but FF body.

Excellent point, and this is why I agree that it would likely be a small cost benefit.

And the "don't like it, don't use it" comment has it's merits.

Like I said, I'm likely in the minority here, but I just have no interest in video at this point, and would rather have seen them give us an option to buy something without it.

this could be somewhat related to people that want a lens that they never have to change. keep the video feature so you don't have to change cameras if you want a video while you're shooting still pictures.

I never use it on my 7D... played around with it a couple times and left it at that. Non-issue simply ignored.

Man I've been wanting this for years! I've always said I want something simple like my old A1, just M, AV, TV, and auto, ISO from 50 to 12800 native, FF, and a few other simple things that digital has improved upon. No LV, no video, no swivel screen, nothing fancy. But price it at $1200 or less.

Exactly. I don't use JPEG Small or white balance bracketing either.

If I wanted to shoot video, I'd buy a video camera.

I bought DSLRs to shoot stills. I have three daily users that are capable of shooting video and have never used it... not even once.

If cameras were cheaper, simpler, less likely to eventually need service thanks to not having video, that would definitely be my choice (also please delete the built-in flash, wireless flash control, geotagging.... anything that can be handled modularly with an accessory, if I wish).

I do think the rather silly (IMO) stampede toward stuffing video into DSLRs has helped push Canon to work harder on some things that are at least potentially useful for still photography.... Such as Live View and, finally on the 60D, an articulated LCD screen.

I know! All they need is to bring a camera to that market that only attract a tiny amount of buyers with absolutely minimal amount of profits, that's what keeps a company afloat!

which is quite a same argument as "If i want to take pics, I'd buy a P&S".
