I recently bought a Photoflex Starflash 300 Portrait Kit and I don't know if I made the right decision. This is my first lighting equipment I've bought, and I would love to get someone's opinion about it. Is there another beginner light kit that is better than this one?

I have a kit (that I purchased used) consisting of 2 Starflash 650s and 1 Starflash 300. It came with numerous softboxes, umrellas, and stands.

It works well, and it is clear that the photoflex equipment is well made.

That being said, I *really* miss the ability to remotely alter the light coming from each monolight. If I have the 300 up on a boom, high overhead, I've got to find a step stool, or a ladder to adjust the light coming from it...there is nothing that can be added on to make that adjustment possible from a remote location...

So, if I were starting over again from scratch, I would strongly consider lights that had that ability, either built in, or via an add-on later.
