As a long time devoted 5D2 shooter I thought I'd give the 1Ds3 a try.

I like the ability to match the focus point to the metering system. Dead handy.

What I didn't like is the high Iso performance, not brilliant especially as I rarely see any Iso banding from the 5D but that's another thing.

My reason for posting is that I'm finding with the Raw files that I can push the files more than the 5D2's, whereas if in Lightroom I push the 5D's Raw file exposure I can only safely do it by 1 stop...with the 1Ds3's I can seem to push it 2 or maybe 3 stops.

Is there a reason for this because if there is then the lack of high Iso isn't that big a deal as I'll just push the images a stop in Lightroom.

I've heard several people (including pros) mention that the 1DsM3 handles low isos and shadow noise better than the 5DM2. Perhaps you are seeing this if you've been pushing low-iso files. I believe this has also been mentioned in some reviews comparing the two cameras. High isos are obviously 5DM2 territory but the 1DsM3 isn't really that bad if the shots are properly exposed. Also the latest versions of Photoshop and Lightroom are much better at removing noise from 1DsM3 files. Nowadays I use Neat Image quite rarely when processing 1DsM3 files.
