Any thoughts on this :) Hard to find a travel tripod that goes high enough for tall folk!

You'll be raising the center column. What about the 3441T ?

I have the 3442 and am 6' tall. It's perfect, for me. The 3441T is exactly the same height, with column down. The thing is it is 2" longer than the 3441S, folded.

Do you need a center column ? If not, I highly recommend the 3442. If you do, for your height, I would get the 3441T, which was designed to be the tall version of the 3441S

Bohdan - I may be, and probably am, completely wrong.

I love my Feisol 3442 and I am 6'6". Rock solid, packs small, yet high enough to use without being a pain. Perfect tripod for what I was looking for. Also, not having a center column allows me to get all the way down for macro shots.

I just purchased the 3441T which is perfect for my 6'1" height (slight bend at the shoulders). That is w/o raising the center post.

If you are over 6' tall, the CT-3441T is definitely a better choice than the CT-3441S.

What is it you object to about the CT-3441T? If it's weight, the CT-3441T is only a little over an ounce heavier than the shorter CT-3441S. If it's folded length. the 18.9" folded length is only 2" longer than the CT-3441S, and still short enough to fit in a carry-on size bag. Yet, it's 6.4" taller (column down height) than the CT-3441S.

If you do choose the CT-3441S, you will likely end up raising the center column to achieve a comfortable working height, and raising the center column of any tripod compromises stability.

In general, I have always found it wise to chose the right tool for the job. This general advice also applies to tripods. The Feisol CT-3441S is a great travel tripod for many users, but if you are taller than average, and want a compact traveler tripod, the CT-3441T was created with you in mind. It is the right tool for the job.

I just pulled the trigger on the 3441T Rapid after straining my back one night using the 1541t. I'm 6'1" and would like that extra 12" of non-center column extension.

The fact that collapsed length is 2" longer bums me a little as it will not fit my Pelican 1514 as does the present Gitzo-Markins Q3t combo. However, having just suffered through having to check the Pelican in Naples because it contained a tripod ("which could be used as a blunt instrument,") I'll be checking the tripod through with my main luggage from now on anyway.

Thanks for the helps! I think I know what the right thing is to do here :) When I'm ready to make the leap to arca swiss, I will definitely pick up a TALL Feisol.

I'd also just mention here that I chatted with Kerry (ReallyBigCameras) by PM. Customer service was outstanding and I haven't even bought anything yet. Good customer service is hard to come by...so when you find it, it's nice to say something.
