I'm not posting this on the classifieds section cause I'll sell it locally on Craigslist or to a friend. What should I ask for my G11, I'm honestly not using it since I got my iPhone4, guess I shouldn't admit that here, there is a lot of difference between the two but it's just working out that way. Right now I'd like to put the money into strobes.

It's a couple of months old, most of you either own one or have read all about what they are like. Personally I think the flip screen is fantastic but that's subjective.

What should I ask, I'll sell it with a Sandisk Ultra II 4G card and Think Tank bag.

I'm asking because I tend to under price stuff, thinking that I'll be lucky to sell anything but I always do. So please any input?

As I said, I'll sell locally in the Seattle area because I don't have PayPal or do Ebay and this keeps me from selling it here as well.

Good grief, I've checked my local Craigslist to see what they're going for and there was not a single G series camera in over a thousand postings in the photo section, so either no one's selling them or they sell quickly.

I'd like to post it tomorrow morning as the weekend is a good time to do this!

Jannie,

Part of the equation is the number of actuations, as it's an indicator of "how used" the camera is. I'm guessing there aren't many, but have you done a search on the sell forum to see what people are offering these at?

Good luck w/ the sell.

2,102 actuations, don't know if you think that a lot or a little, I'll go out for a walk, start shooting flowers and do around 150 shots each time, so it doesn't take much time to add up.

Good pic's of the item along with a good description..can sell anything. It doesn't matter how good or how new the camera is....You have to make potential buyers believe it's the best camera anyone could own. It also depends on how fast you want to sell. If you have a good ad and are patient.. maybe $350 or higher

Yeah on Craigslist I've had people come back with awful really low offers and I've just ignored them. I'd post the same thing a week later and have cash in hand 2 hours later with no quibble. No I'm not in a hurry so if it doesn't sell this month, can try next. Yes to the photos of and I'll include photos taken with the camera and accessories.

I learned that adjectives and adverbs sell items.

I'm really serious.

How do you determine the number of actuations?

Also, can the same be done for a G-9?

I would not pay anything close to $350 for a G11, on account of the G12 being out and likely to retail around $450, as well as a steady supply of G11 refurbs at $250 courtesy of the Canon Loyalty Program. $300 maybe, but not $350. The OP might want to check eBay for closing auction prices to get a better sense of the going rate. It used to be that eBay was vastly overpriced over what you could get on the FS board here or FM, but in my experience the situation lately has reversed.

EDIT: I could have sworn that the G12 is out, but apparently not. Anyway, it is just around the corner and people know it. This will suppress the retail prices of new G11's and drive everything else down with it.

Total Number Of Actuations/Shots

With an SD card in the card reader on your computer, create a new, empty folder named VERS.REQ at the root level of the data card. (e.g. if the drive letter the reader uses for the card is "G:" then the folder will be G:\VERS.REQ and not G:\DCIM\VERS.REQ or anything else.)

Put the card back in the G11, then start in Preview mode
Hold down the SET button and press DISPLAY

The Firmware Version and other info is shown.

Repeat the above step 2 more times.
The second screen displays some more internal version info.

The THIRD screen shows an item "Total Shoot:" followed by a number. The number is the total number of shots by the camera.

I have had the same experience with the low offers and then getting the price I want a day or week later.

I think $350 or more is still reasonable given the fact that the buyer decides if it is worth it to them to purchase. If you have a case or are giving any added value items with it that should be factored in too. Just because GroovyGeek won't buy it doesn't mean that John Q. Public won't.

Thanks Ray, I'll try that.

does the actuation count really matter on a G series digicam? i didn't think so since it doesn't have a mechanical shutter, unless i'm wrong and it does have a mechanical shutter...
