I thought I'd see how Oloneo handled a single image for tonemapping. This is a piece of equipment used at my project in Palm Springs. I like the ability to easily control the amount of detail from realistic to a more 'over the top' look.

I'd never heard of Oloneo, i've downloaded it to give it a try ![]() If you're used to using something like Photomatix, you'll be amazed with what Oloneo does with a properly shot multi-image HDR (even a set that isn't completely proper). And, it does it in mere seconds. I've taken some of my old ones and redone them in seconds. I'll admit, it takes a little longer to load the raw versions, but the 'working' results are very fast. When I did some originally sized jpgs, it took 20-30 seconds each to run them through. That's the whole process - from loading to saving. Give it a spin and see what you think. There doesn't seem to be any restriction on the beta, other than not using it for commercial use. I'll be standing in line when it comes up for sale, as long as they don't want an arm and a leg for it. Gary

I had a play and found it ok, kinda interesting, but nothing amazing. Professional wedding photographer, solution architect and general technical guy with multiple Amazon Web Services certifications.

bexamous Member 60 posts Joined Sep 2009 More info | Wow Oloneo is pretty awesome. I'm not that into HDR but doing a little tone mapping on a single raw can make some nice looking pictures. I usually try to keep it realistic looking. I've played with Photomatix before and seemed like a lot of work. Oloneo took 20 seconds to figure out for me to do some simple tone mapping. This might not be the best use of the program, or the best example of what it can do, but whatever, I really like this picture now: http://farm5.static.flickr.com …65948428_cb0392c69e_o.jpg
