Might sell the 80-400 for a good 70-300, but depending on the price, that could also be the new Tamron 70-300. Definitely want a longer lens with IS though, so may also still go for a 300 F4 IS (with 1.4x) Some of my lenses focus beyond infinity...!

Shadowblade Cream of the Crop More info | Aug 29, 2010 04:44 | #36 Just wondering why people keep referring to the new lens as 'light' when it weighs more than the Brick and 85L, weigs more than a 70-200 f/4 IS + 1.4x TC, is less than a centimetre shorter than the old 70-300 (and 3cm longer than the DO) and is only 300g lighter than the supposedly 'heavy' 100-400...

I would just get a 1.4X TC on my 70-200 IS II. that makes a lot more sense financially. Gear|Searching for 7DII, Buying 5DIII 35L II, 24-70 2.8L IS

Aug 29, 2010 05:42 | #38 No plans to buy this lens. Seems way overpriced for a slow lens when there are faster options. A 70-200 IS with a 1.4X is much more versatile. Sony A1, 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II, 70-200mm F/2.8 GM OSS II, 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 G OSS, 35mm f/1.4 GM, Viltrox 16mm f/1.8, 1.4X TC, Flashpoint flashes

But if the new Tamron is almost as good (and doesn't have AF issues) then I might end up getting that instead since the Canon is just too expensive. My completely outdated Flickr

I'd get the non L version before getting the L Ditto, if I need something that small, that lightweight, if I can live with the slower aperture and limited FL ,. then at the same time I don't want a white lens shouting at the neighborhood, nor do I want to spend nearly that amount of cash on it.
