A while back I posted some photos (in Transportation) from one of the R/C fun fly events I shoot each year & there was a lot of interest in how well the 7D did. I hadn't used it much at that event due to both a lack of trust PLUS I hadn't found the right metering mode to get good results. Last weekend I did another event, and tried Evaluative rather than Partial (my 1DS2 & 1D2n work very well in Partial so that's where I started with the 7D). I'm pleased to say that the new metering setting worked very well, and the AF did a great job so once you've found the settings that work the 7D can do the job. Now as much as it did the job I still find it very distracting looking through all the little black squares showing the AF points, so the 1 series wins when it comes to a nice clean view.
All photos are direct from the camera, no corrections of any kind, and although many are under exposed a bit they correct nicely (I shoot RAW + large fine jpg) Most are shot with the 35-350 L, but the last set (the plane with 97 on it) may be from a 70-200 L. Camera is in Tv mode, set at 1/500 & the ISO was 200.
