A snippet of a long buried memory bubbled to the surface today. I was spitting out sunflower seed shells and that reminded me of a comedy act I saw on TV as a kid.

I was born in '59 so this could have been on anything from Red Skelton to Laugh-In to Smothers Brothers to Carol Burnett or Carson.

What I remember is this: During a skit, a comedian (perhaps magician) gets socked in the mouth, and as a result a "tooth" is knocked loose and he spits it out. Then, a moment later another "tooth", and another, and another. Through sleight-of-hand skills, he is able to keep refilling his mouth with teeth to fall out. On and on and on. At one point he pulled out a ping-pong paddle and was batting them into the audience as he spat them out. At another point he let about 30 or so drop out of his mouth at once.

So, does anyone remember this? Remember who it was? On what show? Anything?

I know it is a arbitrary question for this forum, but it would be just as arbitrary on any forum I belong to, and this has, by far, the largest participation.

And, besides, there is a Fantasy Football thread, and that's pretty arbitrary for a photography forum, too.

I don't remember ever seeing the skit, but it sounds like something that Red Skelton would do.

That was part of Wally Boag's routine at the Golden Horseshoe at Disneyland.

You, sir, are an awesome stud!

Thanks!

PS - After the fact, it's so obvious! The Golden Horseshoe was - second only to the 2 M's , The Matterhorn and Monsanto - the most "looked forward to" spot in Disneyland! (Even in front of Pirates!) The reasons that I assumed it must have been on the TV, were 1) I knew it was from the days of my youth and it didn't even enter my mind that I saw it live, because live performances were not part of my youth, and 2) I felt I had seen it more than once, and where else but on TV to you get "repeats".

Thanks Lonnie, for finding that. A wonderful trip down memory lane!

You're welcome! :D

You may have seen it on TV back then, too, though... That video I linked to on YouTube was obviously filmed by Disney (multiple angles, better quality than you could ever hope for from film camcorders of the day, etc.), so I'd be willing to bet they aired that on Walt's "Wonderful World of Disney" TV show at some time(s).

There are a lot of things I miss about those old days at Disneyland. One of my old favorites was Adventures Thru Inner Space (which I think you meant when you mentioned Monsanto, who was the company that sponsored that ride). Check out this site (external link). That guy recreated the entire ride digitally and made a DVD out of it so us old farts can virtually ride it again. I have to pop my copy in the ol' DVD player again every once in a while...
