Hello,

Both my brothers have come to me for help:

One would like some shots of his gym. Problem is it is full of ****ty flourescent lighting that gives a tint of yellow and mirrors which are naturally bad with flashes.

My other bro would like some firetruck pictures.

Any suggestions for these two situations?

I was going to say something smart like, "Be careful getting the firetruck through the gymnasium doors."

I won't do that, though.

The main thing is to shoot in RAW. It will be infiniately easier to correct for white balance caused by flourescent lights. Also, the firetruck, which I assume is red, will be easier to work with if you start out in RAW.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

No, the two events are 3000 miles away, new york and calgary. I'll shoot in raw, but anybody have suggestions to prevent lens problems when shooting into the mirrors (all the walls are covered in mirror)

If you want to mix artificial lights with strobes, just gel the strobes so they match.

1. Shoot a Raw exposure with a gray card of the ambient light.
2. Open the image on your laptop & click on the gray card with the eyedropper to assess the color temperature.
3. Select the correct gels for your strobes to match the ambient lighting (most likely a mixture of CTO for warming & possibly something else to balance the tint).
