Hi All! Just a quick stop by over here in POTN to share a few Spoonbill images I've captured recently. It's prime time for them here right now, so I've been shooting them quite a bit lately. Most are from Saturday morning. Enjoy!

WOW, you've got some award-winners here Bob. The color and clarity of these is outstanding and your backgrounds really add "pop".

Thanks for the kind words!

Saturday was one of those really great days. I shot about 2000 frames, with hundreds of shots like these. BTW - These were all shot in manual mode with the Canon 1Dm4, and 600mm f/4L.

Exactly where I was -- except the best I could do was with the 400 5.6 -- Near the tower? or where along the road ? I realize they move all the time -- I did see a nice group a little up the road from the tower on the north side of the road -- you are very talented and fortunate to own such superb images!!

yes...Third lagoon (near the tower). 400 5.6 usually is fine when they're flying. I often use the 300 f/4. The trick is to get the wind and the sun at your back while the birds are active. These were captured as the tide was going out, and the birds were coming in. They like to land into the wind. Most of these shots were incoming birds as they were landing. I have many others when they take off into the wind as well, and fly right past you. The 600 f/4 is way too much lens then. It's all a matter of timing at Ding.
