I have been doing too much equipment changes lately and it got me thinking of the 70-200 I used to own and miss greatly. If all you wedding photographers could choose one of the following combinations what would it be?

24-70L, 135L, 200L, 50 1.8
24-70L, 70-200 2.8L, 50 1.8, and either a fisheye or 17-40

I figure I could sell the 135 and 200 and get enough to buy the 70-200 non-is and a wide angle.

Let me know your thoughts.

None of the above.

135 and 200 = gone: replace with 70-200 f/2.8 IS if you need telephoto. 24-70 if you're a zoomer, but I would use 35L and 85L, plus 50 f/1.4, 16-35L, 15mm FE and 24L...

I prefer primes, but I would be able to do just about everything with a 16-35L, 35L, 50 f/1.4, 85L, and 70-200 f/2.8 IS. 15mm FE, 24L and 135L are more icing than anything else now...

If I HAD to choose one of those combos, it'd be the latter. But I'm not sure because the 135L is THE prime telephoto for me. My 70-200 doesnt come out the bag (granted mine is an F4 but still). I can shot an entire wedding with the 24-70 and 135L. Ideally, however, I'd love to have the 35L to go with my 135L and swap to a 16-35 or 17-40 if I need wide angle. In due time...

I ended up selling my 135 and 200 prices and bought the 70-200 2.8 and the canon fisheye. I also got a great deal on another 1D mark II to put me at 3 pro bodies. One day i will get the 135 back. I'm sure i will miss it but the 70-200 2.8 is a phenomenal lens.

On the plus side, i found out last night that i will be allowed up close in the church which is a relief, but still a bit concerned with light levels and lack of flash (not allowed in service). Was considering a fixed 50mm wider aperture lens to keep costs down. Also thinking about renting a lens, but do you think it's worth it, or better to be confident with what you have?Advice really appreciated Thanks....

what equipment are you currently using?

I recently shot a wedding where there was no flash in the ceremony. I used a mark III and a 70-200mm f/2.8 IS mark II. I could have used the non-IS, but also had access to a 24-70, 85 f/1.2 and 100mm f/2.8 which has a hybrid IS that is incredible. I set the ISO at 3200 and shot away. Never needed anything else and the pictures are great.
