I bought a cheap No-Name one off e-bay years ago, and it's still working fine.

I will check for you when I get home tonight. But I don't recall it actually having one. It was only $8.00.

I checked mine. It was made by ADIDT. Looks like several people on E-Bay are still selling them.

I saw this too late! I just ordered one for $6, but the Yongnuo can be had for $3.88, including shipping. http://cgi.ebay.com …ain_0&hash=item335faab774 (external link) That's what I call good shopping! I found an infrared remote for $6 but am afraid to buy it. I know right afterwards I'll hear of another that does the job for $4;)
I really love this bargain stuff, btw. I got a hood for my 15-85 from somewhere in China for $5.41 shipped, and it is great! It has velvet inside (to prevent glare, I suppose). I know there are trolls who will attack me immediately and say "You'll be sorry if you don't buy canon!" At 1/8 the price, however, I'm happy to take my chances with 3rd parties. Sure, I might get screwed, but if I spend $40 for a hood from Canon (I mean, its a cheap piece of plastic that doesn't need to do more than be opaque, for heaven's sake) I'll know I'm being screwed!

I wont buy the canon hoods. The two hoods I have both work great. I may get another hood for the fifty if I get a polarizer. I will need a bayonet hood I think.

50/1.8 needs the hood adapter that threads onto the filter threads then the canon hood snaps onto place on that.
