Boy, it's amazing how bad my timing was for the first game Friday night. Left a lot of good shots on the field, I'm sure. Here are a couple I liked:

1. Last season as a sophmore, #5 rushed for 1200 yards and maybe 12-15 TDs. He went out of the game in the first quarter with an ACL injury. Hope it's a strain or pull and not a tear.

2. On the move looking to pass or run

3. Replacement RB for #5. Unfortunately, he didn't get out of the backfield on this play ...

4. Ca RUNCH!!!

Hopefully, I'll get some better shots next Friday night.

Dave, I feel ya on the timing issue but it'll come back quickly. Your work has continued to improve consistently and even with your timing issue, these are very nice. You are paying lots of attention to backgrounds which is great. The first looks a little underexposed and the third might need a little WB adjustment but otherwise, its a good first outing and the best is yet to come, I'm sure!

Scott:

thanks for your experienced pair of eyes on the shots. Yeah, #3 looks a little 'rosie,' doesn't it?! #1 was a little wierd due to the sun going down on the field but not on the stands. Player is a bit underexposed, agree. I'll bump that one a bit as I save the raw files for awhile just in case.

Looking forward to seeing some of your stellar work this season. Will you be busy shooting boys HS football this season?

glad it helps. Yeah, as the sun goes to shadow, WB can get wonky for sure!

I may do some football but mostly soccer and xc for me. You doing some soccer as well? How's your boy doing?

Cool. I know you're more of a soccer guy than football. Look forward to seeing your work. For now, I'm going to stick to football in the fall and basketball during winter months. I'm also trying to shoot some senior pics so spending some time on portrait work as well.

Big #79 is serving a 2-game suspension along with 8 other players for code-of-contuct violations. I probably don't have to tell you anymore than that! His team probably played its worst game in the 3 seasons I've been around them. Too many 'players' standing on the sidelines in jeans and jerseys for the rest to overcome. 21-6 L to Stow. Blake will likely see a lot of work at DT and a few series at RT on offense next week when the suspension clears.

HS kids ... what can you say?!!! Not like we weren't doing the same things when we were their age! And thanks for asking about him, Scott. Great to hear from you.

If it makes you feel any better, my son and a few of his teammates are watching from the stands at the moment as well. He's seen the error of his ways but you still gotta pay the man when you mess up. I'm sure they'll both be fine and hopefully this is the last time you and I have to talk about this, right??

LOL! Guess none of us (kids included) are the lone ranger this year. And for mine, getting caught was probably the best that could have happened.

Pay the man. Put it behind you. Get on with things. Do the best job you can. Easy message to deliver. I'm sure you're guy heard the same thing. And boy, the kids paying for it!
