I will be shooting a wedding in a few weeks and am having trouble deciding how to setup my gear as a "default" for the ceremony.

Option 1:

5D + 17-40 f/4
20D + 70-200 f/2.8

pros - ultra-wide and extra long.
cons - too long to hand-hold in low light on a crop without going into ISO 3200 on the 20D (would rather not hit 1600 either)?

Option 2:

5D + 70-200 f/2.8
20D + 17-40 f/4

pros - pretty solid coverage from 26-200mm (equivalent FOV). Can shoot at ISO3200 all day long with the 5Dc and 1/200 is always easier to get than 1/320.
cons - lose my ultra-wide and also put my slower lens on my less sensitive body.

Option 3:

5D + 70-200 f/2.8
20D + 35 f/2

pros - short FL (55mm FOV equivalent) and fast aperture = slow, stable shutter and lower ISO on 20D.
cons - less versatile than two zooms.

Option 4:

5D + 17-40 f/4
20D + 100 f/2.8L

pros - covers all wide angle ranges and gives reach with great IQ and 4-stop IS.
cons - less versatile than two zooms.

-----------

I will be utilizing most of the glass in my bag throughout the day and have a pretty set idea of what I'm going to do for portraits and group shots, this question is more directed at the ceremony coverage specifically. Also, I don't plan on using any flash during the ceremony.

Prior to this I have only shot weddings with one body (5D) and two lenses (50 1.4 & 100L), so I might be overthinking things a bit. I'm just wondering what a more experienced shooter would be inclined to do if given my equipment.

Tell us about where the wedding is (dark church, outside bright light, etc) otherwise we can't give you meaningful advice.

The ceremony is in a smaller church chapel. My understanding is that a wedding of 100-150 people would pack the room. It's also fairly dim. Not quite candlelight, but "Small & Dark" covers what I know about it.

If it helps I was able to see some amateur photos taken from the chapel with EXIF data intact. It appears that exposure in the room (at least at the time those photos were taken) is about f/2.8 1/60 ISO 1600.

I tried 2 bodies and didnt like it. I still kept changing lenses because I liked them better on my 5d2. If I had identical bodies, I think I would like it MUCH more, but with such a big gap I just choose to switch lenses instead. Especially with a dark church, I would just keep your 20d nearby in case of failure from your 5d, but shoot primarily on your 5d.

Just another thing to throw into the mix.

I'd put your 50mm 1.4 on your 5d and the 70-200 on the 20d. Switch to the 17-40 for groups or to the 35 on the 5d
