hey everyone, I got a grip for my 40D and got myself a second Canon battery, however sharing a single charger to charge both batteries is a bit of a hassle. Is there an alternative charger that is well known to, well, not explore?

Or should I bite the bullet and pay $50+ for the official single charger?

Thanks everyone, been trying to find products and all the random 3rd party chargers worry me on quality, don't know if I can honestly trust any or if there is a cheap alternative that is known for quality.

Yep - Sterlingtek. Includes an auto adapter, too and for much less than Canon's. Pick up a couple more batteries while you're at it and you should be at or around the "free shipping" level.

Canon DOES sell a dual charger (CA-PS400) that will charge your batteries well. It's one of the first accessories I bought when I got my rig, because when I saw the supplied charger in my research I said "not happening!" The little one's my emergency charger now.

It charges them consecutively, not simultaneously, though and for quite a price. Two small individual chargers will take up less room and be through faster.

I got a 3rd party charger. While it's cheaper it's only 1/2 the strength the Canon's. Not sure about Sterlingtek's check the output amp when you get it.

The Delkin dual charger would have been a better bet as you can purchase adaptor plates for different Canon batteries even AA's . It was about $50 all in and shipped .

Yeah I paid $10 for my charger. If I wanted to pay $50 I would've just gotten the official one

Thank you though for the recommendations. If it doesn't work out somehow I'll let you guys know.

The one below works as good for me as the Cannon does and has the added bonus of 12v charging on the go. I have Delkin batteries that were a steal 2 for 1 deal for like $15 at a local shop. But i kinda hate Delkin because you can never tell as most of their products are just re-branded similar to the Rosewell brand. I have a Bluetooth dongle from them and they don't even make their own drivers or tell you where to get updates. Also had a UPS that died just after warranty went out the replacement batteries were more expensive with shipping fees then it would be to buy new unit.
