Has anyone seen what the weight of the new 500 F/4L IS II and 600 F/4L IS II are yet? I was just wondering how they are going to compare to the current models.

Thanks,

Evan

There are no 500mm f4L II IS and 600mm f4L II IS lenses yet. These won't be updated until next year according to Canon.

500L markII??? I say close to 5 lbs. If they shave off 3lbs off the 400L markII, they can do the same with the 500L markII.

And 600L respectively. The 400L markII uses titanium casting BTW. Both lens should be around 10K....:) or more...

Canon says they will have more information about those two lenses and will display prototypes at the photokina 2010 photography and imaging industry trade fair between September 21 and 26 in Cologne, Germany.

I'm hoping they will too. I was just curious by how much. I was considering getting the 500 F4L IS, but if a new version that weighs less will be coming within a year, I'm thinking I will wait, since this will be a once in a lifetime purchase. And if the weight of the 600 F4L IS II drops enough I may set my sights on it. The 400 F2.8L IS II is also another posibility. So I will have to try one with a 2X Mark III on it and see what the pictures look like.

I might have to start moonlighting on the weekend, to pay for it.
