Ok so im loving my canon 85mm.... it does good.. im still learning on my camera as im new to this.... and my pics come out great with the 18-55 kit lense (i know the kit lense sucks as everyone says) but i like it... however my goal of the sigma 70-300 was for an affordable zoom lense to learn on..... but what im finding out is that my pics havent been great.... ok still learning on camera but also not great due to zoomed at 300, trying to hold camera..... so blurryness ...

so do i get a monopod for my sigma
get a canon IS lense.... 200, 250???
with say $250.... for a canon lense or $50 for a monopod...

what do you prefer?
i dont want to have to tote a monopod really at soccer.... they are on the large fields so im liking the 300mm zoom (so far only in practices as games havent started)...

since when does sigma make a constant f4 70-300mm?

the IS will help a bit...but you'll need fast shutter speeds to stop the action of the players, so it may not be that useful for you anyways the I.Q. might be better if you're shooting with the 70-300APO version...so that may be worth the switch...

how about posting some of the shots you are not happy about with exif intact

so the blue shirt is my son..
they are running.. and i was tracking them at 234mm... maybe it is just me not using the correct settings???
i dunno....
f/Stop 5.6
exposure 1/500
iso - 3200

the camera was on a partial automatic... since im new to this.. i put it on auto.. hold button down 1/2 and look at the settings then go play.... i try different settings out...

the lens looks like it missed focus, which is normal for moving objects. a mono pod is not going to help you.

you can either buy a faster auto focusing lens, or don't shoot subjects that your AF can't track very well

With a budget of $250 the 55-250mm looks like the only option.
