Little off topic but I figured this was a good group to ask.

My soon to be daughter in law wants to do a candy bar at her wedding. My son is giving her a bit of flack over it.

Have many of you seen this done? I googled and found a few but was curious as to how common it might be.

BTW, I like the idea.

I did it at my wedding. Everyone loved the idea, and they turned out great.

A Candy Bar is a great idea, we had one at our wedding. Don't forget to remind him he won't even have any time to notice it or otherwise. The bride and groom don't typically have much time to enjoy all the little details, its a whirl.

I dunno... it seems to be a trend especially lately. I personally don't really see the point. It basically gets raided by the kids and puts them into hyperdrive for the evening, and the adults maybe take a piece here and there. There is usually a TON of the less popular candy leftover, and none left of the good stuff. I think they look cool, but if I were getting married again, I wouldn't have one.

The old aunts and ladies at our wedding all took theirs to keep. It was a true prize to many of them. My wedding was 13 years ago, so not even very recent.

At any wedding I have seen them at, both as a guest and as a photographer, they have been a HUGE hit, both by kids and many adults.

A Candy Bar in this context means having a a Bar (like think of a bar where you would drink) but instead of alcohol you have candy. Guests can make little candy bags to enjoy both during and after the wedding.

Is it a good idea: seriously who doesn't love candy?

I had to google it, because I did no know before she brought it up.

Google the term "candy buffet" in images. A bunch of examples come up.

Sounds pretty lame to me, i've never even heard of it before. It's just another invention by someone to part brides from their husbands money.

I haven't seen candy bars, but have seen custom M&M's a few times.

Yeah kind of like those professional photographers charging thousands of dollars when uncle bob has a "good" camera ;)

We had a candy bar at our wedding and it was a huge hit, mind you we had no kids at our wedding, I went to the local bulk food store and bought all the candy myself, I tried to get a selection of candy everyone would like(sours, liquorice, chocolates etc) we also picked up glass bowl at a dollar store and paper bags so guests could put a selection of candy in a bag and take it home or to their table.
