I was wondering if anyone could help. Can do you get the sky to look like this? Can you point me towards a tutorial??

Thanks He/she has the strobe to the left just outside the frame, I personally would have gone for a wider or aimed the beam so it illuminated the grass under the subjects.

The back drop is normal exposure since the flash is the considered the primary light source for exposure.
