in your neck of the woods...saw two today each for about 65,000 yen....they don`t know the shutter count and offer 6 month warranty. They had a used 40D for 60,000...have one of those and paid that for it new at the same place two years ago.
So...that price for a used 50D reasonable...because we have members from so many countries forgive me if I don`t convert from yen to everybody`s currency...but if youse would be so kind as to opine on that price I`d appreciate it.
Thanks.

well at the current US rate yours works out to about $530. The ones I saw would be about $760.00...closer to the going rate you mentioned but still a little less. We`ll see if others jump in...OH yeah...I`m sure somebody will say Google is my friend `n stuff...theres always one on every web site... so no need to point it out again.

Nah, the yen to dollar rate is bad right now. It would be $772 dollars for 65,000 yen. Dang exchange rate.

depends on which side of the coin you are coming from...for me here in Japan the exchange rate is great...and I`m not American so I look at the Canadian dollar. And I did say about $760.00...a 12 dollar difference to $772.00 could change within the next 5 minutes. In fact it changed from my post two hours ago to this one.

Futureshop is currently blowing out the 50D's brand new for $899 (the same price as the T2I) , so I'd go ahead and hold off paying the same price for a used one. ;)

I thought the place I went to today had closed...it used to be on the ground floor of a building but one day it was gone so I assumed it went bust. For some reason today as I was walking by I just decided to go to the second floor to see whats there and presto...there they were...so I am real happy to find out they are still around `cause there are only a couple of used camera shops in town...they had a butt load of used lenses and were unpacking boxes of stuff while I was there...I had to leave for work but am off tomorrow and will return.
Did get my hands on a small catalog for the 60D and the new lenses...it`s only 3 pages and I suspect they will be coming out with more once it hits the shops but they are advertising it with posters and stuff.
I have been reading up on the 50D on line the past couple of hours and evidently apart from the extra pixels and a couple of other small things it`s not much different from my 40D...still my second body now is a 20D and the 50 would be better than that though I`d keep the 20 too. But I`ll see tomorrow when I have more time...keep youse posted.

I just checked the BestBuy / Futureshop websites and the blow-out is over. They no longer list the 50D. now is the time to buy, before the stock dries up and while the blowout pricing is on.

If you've already got a 40d and a 20d, I'd get something else. Check out the 1dmkII and the 5d (original, not mark II). They are around the same price, and they'll give you a more versatile package. 40d is 1.6x crop factor, 1d is 1.3x crop factor, 5d is full frame.

I bought one 4 months ago with under 10k avtuations for $550. got a used OEM grip for it for $50 and sold both for $800 a month ago. Here they are still selling for around that $700 - $800 range.
