I have the flash apart and have safely discharged the Capacitor. I dropped it and tested the the capacitor is in fact bad. Where can I get a replacement? I found the Canon part number CY2-1171-000 but have no idea where I can get a hold of a replacement!

Thanks

Is it an assembly or just the capacitors?
Thing with testing capacitors is, you have to have them OOC (out of circuit) in order to get a good reading.

pardon my ignorance, I should have said the capacitor seems OK. The assembly is fried. I removed the assembly from the capacitor and tested it. I didn't know I could get a replacement assembly without the capacitor but if I can that should work.

OK. No problem. I am about to head out the door to my local electronics supplier; I thought that if the caps were bad, I'd pick up a couple for you and ship them out today.

If you can, would you post some pics of the assembly? Let's see if we/I/anyone can see the culprit.

Good thing. Looks like your caps shorted--or one died--and burned/blew off a good chunk of your circuit tracing. I could have fixed that, but it would have been a pain, and I've got another, larger project of similar nature that's been on the back burner for longer than I care to admit. :D
