Canon RC-6 Wireless Remote Controller?

I have a XSi body and just wanted to double check if this would work with my camera or something else that cost less and does the exact same thing. I saw on the Canon website there is a RC-1/RC-5/RC-6 and I got confused..sorry for sounding like a noob, I just started the photography hobby 2 weeks ago and realized I have super shaky hands..

The RC-6 is a infrared wireless remote that requires you to be in front of the camera to use as it needs to be inline with the IR receiver on the front of the camera grip.

It's probably better to get a dual function wireless remote, that can also act as an off camera external flash trigger as well. This model will allow you to trigger the camera from any direction.
