Now that the S95 is out, do you think the G12 will be much better?

I was anticipating the release of the S95 but now it appears that it really only fixed a few of the S90 problems (rear wheel, 720P). However, video is still nothing to write home about and other than body texture, etc. its probably not worth it to sell an S90 to pick up an S95. Can we expect much more from a G12 or will it basically be a G11 with 720P? I already have a G11 that is within the return period so I'm debating keeping it or waiting for the G12.

Naturally not.

From what I can tell the G11 doesnt seem to have complaints that needed addressing as the S90 did (rear wheel, smooth surface, etc.).

Actually the G11 ergonomics could be improved. It is very easy to inadvertently depress the menu button when holding the camera. This is worse when doing so as the camera is turning on which enables the mute. Not good if you don't want mute on and is a regularly occurring problem for me.They need to move the menu button.

If Canon puts out a G12 with only 720 at 24fps, then what's the point of upgrading from the G11?

They need to go full HD, nothing less, or it will be a dud (unless they do something remarkable, like squeeze in a bigger sensor. Doubt that will happen, though.

I ended up placing an order for the LX5. Faster lens, 720p 60fps, zoom and focus during video,...It'll be interesting comparing it to the G11.

One oc the main frustrations I had with my G11 which I sold a week ago after only having it about 4 months, was the operation of the controls, I was missing my G9 in that respect but the image quality of the G11 was so much better and loved the flip screen but not enough to keep it, now I just use the iPhone4 as my point and shoot- no it's not the same thing just handy and really hope Canon comea out with something in a 4/3rds format that is outstanding, otherwise I'm done with small cameras and will just keep upgrading my iPhone.
