hi all, what do you guys use for this combo? i'd like to be able to fit my 30D gripped with the 17-55 in the bag as well.

i was looking at the KATA 3n1 but heard it gets heavy and the strap is flexing.. which i don't want.

so anything else would be good to consider.

the lowerpro 300 aw is pretty good. I never really liked sling bags though, I used to borrow my friends 300 aw so I have experience with it. I was able to fit comfortably a 7d, 24-70, 70-200 2.8, and my friends nikon 70-300 with still room for maybe a small prime. So you could def get them all in but i think you'll have to detach the 5d and 70-200 to fit it in, or or detach the 30d and 17-55.

with the weight of the kit, both camera's and lenses, I wouldn't recommend a sling bag, supporting all that weight on one shoulder is not going to work that well.

If you had a lighter load then I'd recommend something like this.

Tamrac Evolution 8 might be the closest thing. I have Kata 3n1-20. I have two complaints.
1) Can't fit 5d2+70-200 f/4is mounted
2) When the camera is removed, extra lenses don't stay put very well. So need to be careful when open up to reach for something. I think Kata's side paddings are not strong enough to hold straight.

I did check out Tamrac Evolution 8 in the store. I think it's a bit better, but I am not fully convinced still.

thanks guys.. i currently have the tamrac velocity 7 which i can fit my 5D2 grip with 70-200, but it'll stick out a bit. i don't wanna bring my crumpler 7M... but i might just have to.

i'll be walking around with the BlackRapid RS4 with my 5D2 + 70-200, so maybe I'll put the 30D + 17-55 in the velocity 7... just not sure what to do. my 50mm is just not wide enough.

Interesting. I would done the reverse. 5d2 + 24-105L and 70-200 on a crop. You would have reach from 24-320mm 35mm equivalent FL. That's a pretty good 2 camera system.

i don't have a 24-105L yet.. thinking about renting one for the trip. i usually use the 30D + 70-200 for the reach, so that's why i'm thinking about taking the 30D with me. the 17-55 i can use for landscape.

but like u said, if i rent a 24-105 on the 5D, then i can use the 70-200 on the 30D.

decisions.....

Buy it used. It's cheaper than renting. Just need to decide on selling 17-55 or 24-105L in a month or so when the bill comes due.

I am pretty sure you can find a mint condition 24-105L in San Jose's CL list for $800.

agreed, i when i carried my friends kit consisting of a d300, 18-200, 70-300, and 70-300, it was hurting my shoulder just by carrying it for a couple minutes.

Which "300AW' are you referring to? I assume it is the SLINGSHOT 300AW.
