Has anyone else had a problem w/ their flash not popping up when you push thee little side button? It was working fine earlier in the day then I starting messing around trying to set the 7D as flash master. Now the camera thinks the external flash is still attached when I go to the Built-in flash func. setting under Flash Control Menu and no pop-up.....HELP.

Thanks

Many thanks tattooDan ....I looked at the hot shoe on the camera and saw the little switches were also up on one side and the other side switch was not quite up as much. I used a toothpick and blower and now popup is back in working order!

I think I might have caused this because I tried to attach the ext flash a few times and I missed getting both sides engaged properly.

Thanks again,
Sagebrush

I had this problem and it was driving me nuts until I realized that it will not pop-up when the camera is 'sleeping'. A gentle press on the shutter button to wake it up and then the flash pop-up works again. I hope that's your problem too, because it was easy to solve.

It's a known Canon design flaw and it never gets any better with the new models...

The best workaround is to quit using the popup (which is next to useless anyway) and buy a good shoe-mount flash.

Actually, I now find my popup on my 7D useful. I can now do multiple flash my slaving my 430EX off-camera and using the popup with diffuser at the same time.

popup works great in a pinch if you have the proper pop-up flash diffusers, and also with the 7D and 60D, this is the wireless flash controller, as stated previously.
