Been out taking some pictures today at Haigh Hall near Wigan, and got home to find some strange....well I look at them and thing Grey Rainbows, but I'm sure there's a proper name. I've included a resize and a 100% crop of them on here. They only show up with this one lens and there's nothing "obvious" on the glass to do this either.

Any suggestions as to how I can get the lens right again? It's one of my most used

EDIT NO crop as uploader wouldn't take it :\

Saw something like that in the movie "The Omen." Was there a really mean dog in the area? :)

Sorry, no idea what really happened. Guess you could take the lens in to get a check-up. Doesn't look like anything you could clean off it.

This issue comes up every few weeks here, i've never seen a definitive answer, but it's been suggested that the shutter could be faulty. It needs to be serviced by Canon or returned to your dealer.

The 18-55 is not even good at being a paperweight, but maybe it's good at seeing ghosts! :D

Lookd like you have a cat hair on your sensor!

But why would the shutter only affect one lens? It's just this one that's being affected by whatever the fault is. Weird

Well I've just finished giving a good clean to *everything* looks like it may have been on the filter - we'll see how it goes.
