Just wondering how you find out if these are still serviced by Canon? What is a fair price for a good condition 600non-is?

The non IS is no more serviced by the Canon, hence owning them is not a safe bet.

NonIS, nope. The current IS will be for 5-6 more years.

I own a 300L2.8nonIS ... (18years old) ... I bought it because price was 60% cheaper than a 300L2.8IS and rally ultra sharp ...
These lenses are really strong and can support a heayvy duty without any trouble.

So I suppose if the 600mm is affordable regarding your budget, I think it's better to have one and be careful than just dreaming of something we just dream and never own.
