Hello, I've been getting a lot of jobs , lately, just by the word-of-mouth advetising ;(private shoots, events, etc.), so I asked a friend of mine, graphic designer, to compose a calling card for me. So far this this the winning design , and the one I'll use. (Of course the lettering is in spanish, but I'll have one in english and one in spanish).I asked him to include "Canon digital equipment", and to make the dark part 1/3 of the card :D
Also te remove the white brackets on the right.

What do you think?

I like the design. I don't know what advantage it would be to add "Canon digital equipment." Lots of people with zero skills possess Canon digital equipment. I think you would be better off to define yourself by your work, not the tools you use to create it.

Some people who do business in two different languages have their business cards printed up with one language on the front and the alternative language on the back. Same design on both sides.

I really like the design! And those brackets around the words Retratos, Comercial and Eventos is soo fitting. I can just see a photographer holding up his hands like those brackets to frame his image. Excellent!

Nice design, but i'd not mention my brand of equipment on it.

Quite honestly I have never heard of anyone putting what equipment they use, or even the fact that they *are* using professional equipment on their card. I personally don't think it's necessary, and a little awkward.

Anyway, your card, your choice ;) I think it looks mighty fine as it is!

There are some people with the misconception that digital photography is necessarily better. There are others with the misconception that digital photography is necessarily worse.

But in my experience, professionals (in any line of work, not just photography) who brag about their equipment often have little else to brag about. And most of your potential customers will know that what makes you valuable is not your equipment, but your ability to choose the right tool for the job, and the experience to get good results from it.

Why mention your equipment at all? It's assumed that a photographer has good equipment, if people are concerned they'll ask. I suspect digital is still seen as being 2nd best to film, so i'd leave it off entirely.

I'll second that. The customer has all the right to ask what equipment you use, but basically its none of their business, as long as you give them professional results. You might even find a Noink fan that hates Canon, or a film fan that hates digital, and loose a customer. Keep things for yourself, IMHO, and give them your best effort. The tools are just that, tools. And you may switch to a different brand/media and have to reprint your cards.

Just my .02, of course.

Tim is right with this. The customer really don't care what the equipment. They are coming to you to get a photograph, and if they get it, it wont matter what the equipment is.

When you get your car fixed, do you care about the type of spanner the guy uses?

By the way the card look really good.

I'll 3rd or 4th what has been said. No need to mention the eqipment used. I like the design and think the brackets are good.
